chef cooking on the wok for a halal restaurant

Basically an audit will be done before you can obtain your halal certification for your services and products that you have decided to certify halal. This is to ensure that the products are verified and validated prior certification to ensure that the products are in compliant with the Islamic Halal Syariah law. The audit will be done by a regulated body or an organization that has the capability and recognition to do so.

At HalalXpert, we do provide extensive halal auditing service for you to get certified. Our auditors that we are collaborating with are of ISO standards and years of experience. Wherever you are, getting audited and certified has never been hassle free and streamlined as before, as our auditor’s network is available worldwide throughout difference continents.

In each audit process, the company applying for halal will be given an evaluation result which will depict what are the changes required in order to get the halal certificate. Our audit is defined as a case by case basis to ensure optimal standards are accrued.

The Audit Process

This phase starts when an inquiry is made via email or phone call to our consultant. Our consultant will provide more insight and understanding of the overall processes before we can begin our work.

Once the client and consultant have agreed to the terms and conditions of the agreement made, our consultant will work with you closely to set a date and time for the audit. Prior the audit, a detail of procedures, processes, and plans will be focused. Our consultant, too, will inspect the premises of the client and provide feedback to ensure that everything is in compliant with the Islamic Syariah law.

The audit team, on the other hand, will audit and inspect the following area of concern:

  • Premise and facility
  • Food Safety measures
  • Sanitary measures and storage area
  • Product managing and hygiene
  • Documentation of SOP
  • Halal quality assurance points (HAP)
  • Food ingredients and their supplies of origin
  • Food manufacturing processes and its by-products

After the audit, the auditors will cross reference and check all the info above are in compliant with the Islamic Syariah Law. Part of the audit info on the food will be sent out to the food technologist to cross examine thoroughly the Halalness of the products or food and to ensure that the food manufacturing processes and its by-products are halal.

The food technologist will investigate the ingredients and its chemical compound from their list of Halal and Haram (Forbidden) list of the database, which has been kept and updated over the years.

The client will be informed of the audit result with feedbacks. Any non-conformities (NC) will require action from the client to make changes in order to stay compliant with the Islamic halal Syariah Law. Once the NC has been rectified accordingly, the auditor will review it again and finally will provide you with the halal certificate once everything is perfect.

The Management Process

After the audit is completed and the client has received their Halal certificate, it is imperative for the client to always stay in compliant with the Islamic Syariah Law at all time. However, in order to do that, the client must also be internally audited and reviewed by their own Halal trained personnel or staffs.

The consultant will randomly help and guide the client in maintaining their halal documentations and best practices. Prior the expiry of the halal certificate, a renewal must be done and hence an audit cycle will be initiated again.
